International Building Exhibitions

research, strategies, conferences, excursions and campaigns

International building exhibitions (IBA) are an urban development format that Sally Below is constantly working on. In this area, she has served as a strategic consultant and developed communication concepts. For the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Building and Community, together with the IBA Expert Council she is working on the reorientation of IBA until 2020 under the title of “IBA im Wandel“ (International Building Exhibition in Transition). Critical reflection on this format is also important to her, as seen in the publication on the anniversary of the Berlin Building Exhibitions, which she published with partners in 2017.
For the IBA on urban redevelopment in Saxony-Anhalt in 2010, she developed a communication strategy, excursions, and the closing events. For the IBA Hamburg in 2013, she organized two international conferences: the forum “IBA meets IBA” and “Building the City Anew”.
In October 2015, the Bedheim Fireside Chat at the IBA Thüringen marked the launch of a building culture campaign in local rural areas. Sally Below was an advisor and moderator for the discussion together with Marta Doehler-Behzadi, Managing Director of IBA Thüringen.
