For over twenty years, more than 300 hectares of former military land in Munich have been developed into new urban quarters. The 2013 annual exhibition of the city planning office showed the transformation process and gave an outlook on future developments.
Case studies, photographic snapshots, interviews with witnesses, planners and new residents as well as found objects told the story of change. In addition, the exhibition used many examples from everyday administrative life to show why such an urban development process is a lengthy undertaking.
Sally Below developed the exhibition concept and was responsible for the content, the Munich-based office Q2SM supported with the design implementation. Furthermore, sbca was also responsible for the conception as well as the editorial and graphic realisation of the publication “From Barracks to City Quarter”.
